Unity in Action: The Unity Table Brings Community, Conversation, and Healing Together

As communities across New Jersey continue navigating social division, mental health concerns, and the need for stronger civic engagement, a new movement is creating space for something many people have been longing for — conversation, connection, and common ground.

Unity in Action: The Unity Table Brings Community, Conversation, and Healing Together

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, The Unity Table, in partnership with Little Box of Love, will host a special Community Reception at The Highlawn in West Orange, New Jersey, bringing together leaders, healthcare professionals, elected officials, clergy, and residents for an evening dedicated to dialogue and recognition during Mental Health Awareness Month.

Founded by J. Wayman Henry III and Anthony Frungillo, The Unity Table was created with a clear vision: to build bridges between people of different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences through respectful conversation and community engagement.

In a time when many public discussions have become polarized, The Unity Table offers something refreshingly different — a welcoming environment where listening matters and solutions are explored collectively.

“Community begins when people are willing to sit at the same table,” shared organizers involved with the initiative. “The goal is not to erase differences, but to create understanding and work toward shared solutions.”

The upcoming reception is more than a networking event. It is a celebration of those working tirelessly in healthcare and mental health advocacy, recognizing the professionals and community champions who dedicate their lives to healing, service, and improving the quality of life for others.

The evening is expected to feature participation from distinguished guests and civic leaders, including Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, Anthony Frungillo, J. Wayman Henry III, Rev. Bolívar Flores, and Dennis Gonzalez, among others who continue shaping conversations around wellness, public service, and community development.

Partnership with Little Box of Love, a New Jersey nonprofit founded by Margarita Duran, further reflects the event’s deeper purpose — bringing people together not only socially, but intentionally, around causes that matter.

Mental Health Awareness Month serves as an especially meaningful backdrop for the gathering. Across the country, conversations surrounding emotional wellness, access to care, and community-based support continue growing in importance. The Unity Table seeks to contribute to that conversation by creating environments where people feel seen, respected, and encouraged to participate.

Proudly supported by LE KOOL Champagne and Bravado Cigars, the reception blends elegance with purpose, demonstrating that civic engagement can be both thoughtful and inviting.

For many attending, the evening may represent more than a reception — it may be the beginning of new partnerships, renewed dialogue, and stronger community ties.

Because sometimes, progress starts with something simple:

A seat at the table.
