Born in Buff Bay, Portland, Jamaica, McLeary’s passion for fashion developed early. Long before she became known on international runways and editorial sets, she was already experimenting with style, design, and personal expression. Her early modeling career in Kingston introduced her to the mechanics of fashion production and performance, setting the foundation for what would become a multifaceted career in styling and creative direction.

Driven by a desire to expand her reach beyond the Caribbean, McLeary moved to New York City, where she pursued formal fashion education at the International Style Institute. There, she studied under celebrity stylist Anita Patrickson and graduated at the top of her class. Her talent and work ethic earned her the opportunity to assist on exclusive productions, including a Malibu Magazine shoot sponsored by Gucci.

Her educational path continued internationally, reflecting her belief that fashion is a global language. McLeary expanded her expertise through studies at Condé Nast College in London—now known as Vogue College of Fashion—as well as further training in fashion merchandising, marketing, production, public relations, and creative direction. According to interviews and published profiles, she also studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology and participated in mentorship programs led by celebrity image architect Law Roach.

In 2015, McLeary launched LaToya Mc Inc., a fashion styling and management company with operations extending across New York, Los Angeles, and London. Her work spans editorial styling, runway productions, wardrobe consulting, music videos, film, and personal styling. Over the years, her creative direction has appeared in fashion magazines, runway showcases, and international fashion events including New York Fashion Week and fashion showcases in Paris, Milan, Dubai, Australia, and London.

Beyond styling, McLeary has expanded into entrepreneurship with the launch of her eyewear brand, HauteLife World. Inspired by her love for travel and luxury fashion, the brand reflects her global aesthetic while remaining deeply connected to her Caribbean identity. HauteLife World has reportedly been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, and Harper's Bazaar, while also appearing on major runways internationally.

What distinguishes McLeary is not only her technical understanding of fashion, but her commitment to cultural storytelling. In interviews, she has emphasized how travel, education, and exposure to diverse cultures continue to shape her creative vision. She often speaks about fashion as “transformative” and views design as a form of visual storytelling capable of communicating identity, emotion, and heritage.

Her growing influence also extends into mentorship and industry conversations. In recent podcast appearances and interviews, McLeary has discussed the realities of building a Caribbean-based fashion brand, the importance of authenticity in branding, and the challenges independent creatives face in the global market. She advocates for innovation, strategic partnerships, and cultural pride as key ingredients for long-term success in fashion entrepreneurship.
