New Jersey — In a historic move that signals deepened commitment to inclusion and Latino representation, the National Action Network (NAN) has welcomed Reverend Bolívar Flores as its new Latino Community Leader. The announcement comes as NAN continues to expand its reach and representation under the leadership of its Founder and President, Rev. Dr. Al Sharpton, and Board Chairman Rev. Dr. W. Franklyn Richardson.

Reverend Flores will serve alongside Rev. Dr. Steffie Bartley, Sr., NAN’s Northeast Regional Director, as he steps into this pivotal role to elevate the voice, visibility, and leadership of the Latino community in NAN’s longstanding fight for civil rights and social justice.

This appointment is not just a milestone—it’s a movement,” said Rev. Dr. Bartley. “Reverend Flores brings a heart for the people, a passion for justice, and a voice that speaks to the soul of our communities. His presence strengthens our mission and expands our reach.”

With over a decade of ministry and grassroots leadership, Reverend Bolívar Flores is known for his tireless work advocating for human rights, uplifting migrant communities, and providing spiritual guidance and support to those impacted by incarceration and poverty. As Chief of Staff at the New Jersey Reentry Corporation, he has helped lead transformative efforts to support returning citizens and build bridges between civic, faith-based, and governmental organizations.

Social justice knows no boundaries of language, color, or nationality,” said Rev. Dr. Al Sharpton. “The integration of Reverend Bolívar Flores as a leader of our Latino community marks a strong step toward a truly inclusive movement. His story of service, faith, and action embodies the spirit of the National Action Network: turning compassion into real change. We are deeply honored to welcome him to this mission.”

In response to his appointment, Reverend Flores shared: “I accept this responsibility with humility and resolve. This is about more than leadership—it’s about honoring our community with dignity, faith, and opportunity. I look forward to working hand in hand with my brothers and sisters at NAN to ensure our voice is not only heard but empowered.

The National Action Network, founded in 1991, remains one of the most active civil rights organizations in the country, advocating for criminal justice reform, economic empowerment, and the protection of voting rights. With the integration of Reverend Bolívar Flores, NAN continues to live its mission of inclusive leadership and transformative justice.
